Getting Married in Favignana: an Intimate Island Wedding Experience
A wedding in Favignana is about light, time and authenticity. An intimate island wedding in Sicily, told with a natural and discreet approach.
Favignana Wedding Photographer: Intimate Celebrations on a Sicilian Island
Favignana is more than an island, it’s a place where time slows, distances shrink, and attention naturally returns to the people, gestures, and genuine moments of your wedding day. I spend part of my life on Favignana, drawn to its rhythm, its light, and its unique landscapes. Through my long-term project on the Favignana quarries, I’ve explored the textures, stories, and hidden corners of the island, a perspective I bring to every wedding I photograph here.
Couples choosing Favignana value slowness and depth. They are not seeking perfect poses or staged setups; they want to live every emotion as it unfolds, and to have it preserved in a photographic story that feels alive and authentic.
Why Favignana
Favignana offers an intimacy that few destinations can match. The island’s natural beauty, from turquoise coves to sun-drenched cliffs, creates a backdrop that is both dramatic and personal. Small guest lists and private elopements allow emotion to become visible, letting couples fully immerse themselves in the day. For international couples planning a destination wedding in Sicily, Favignana provides a rare combination of privacy, authenticity, and Mediterranean charm.
Ideal Couples for Favignana Weddings
Favignana is perfect for couples who prioritize intimacy over spectacle and authenticity over convention. Those who want a natural, unobtrusive photographic story will find a space here to feel fully present and free. Many of my couples travel from the US, the UK, and across Europe, trusting me to guide them through planning, timing, and location choices, while allowing the day to remain personal and emotional. My goal is not to create trends, it is to create images that will remain meaningful for decades to come.
Top Locations for Your Favignana Wedding
Favignana offers a variety of stunning venues, each with its own character. From the secluded coves and cliffs, to historic palaces and lush gardens, every location allows couples to craft a celebration that feels intimate and unique. Some of the most memorable spaces include: Camparia, Hotel delle Cave | Cave Bianche Hotel, Giardino del Sottosale, Stabilimento Florio, and Palazzo Florio. These sites not only provide beauty, but also allow couples to create meaningful experiences tailored to their style and vision.
Nestled near dramatic cliffs, these venues are built into the stunning calcarenite quarries of Favignana. The natural textures and architecture make every moment of your wedding visually unforgettable.
riginally used to house the boats of the tuna fishery, Campania blends industrial history with island charm. Its open spaces and historic architecture create a unique backdrop for intimate ceremonies and striking photographs.
A secret garden surrounded by stone walls and greenery, Giardino del Sottosale offers privacy and serenity. Light filtering through olive trees and Mediterranean flora adds a golden, natural glow to every scene.
Once the industrial site where tuna was processed, Stabilimento Florio now offers dramatic, historic spaces. Its architecture and open areas provide a perfect setting for creative, authentic wedding photography.

What Favignana’s bride & groom say
“We would definitely recommend Fulvia! She was an exceptional photographer for our wedding. She managed to capture the soul of the celebration and this special day without ever falling into the clichés of classic wedding photos. She is a real photographer and I am very happy that she offered her art to tell the story of this day of love.”

Couple and Family Photography in Cefalù
Andrea and Giovanni married in Cefalù and years later returned with their child for a new family session. Discover how I capture weddings and families in Sicily with an authentic storytelling approach.
Family photography reportage: Andrea & Giovanni’s Return
An international wedding in Cefalù
Andrea and Giovanni got married in 2019 in Cefalù, in one of the most vibrant and international weddings I have ever photographed. Friends and family came from all over the world, and the celebration was unforgettable. The “hora loca” at the end of the night remains one of my favorite moments: colors, dancing, laughter.
Returning after a few years
A few years later, they reached out to me. Today they live in Guadeloupe and are proud parents of a wonderful little boy, Max. They chose to return to Cefalù for a few days to be photographed together again. Just the three of them, in that special place once more.
It is always an honor to be called back by a couple after so many years. It means that something in those wedding photos left a mark—a bond of trust, empathy, and shared memory was created.
Capturing the family with the same gaze
Photographing them as a family was deeply moving. Not only for the tenderness in their looks but for the strength of the journey they continue together. Telling each chapter, one after another, is the most rewarding part of my work.

A Roman walk for two
She wore her wedding dress. He wore a look of quiet wonder.
Hiroto and Rie came all the way from Japan to celebrate their love in the Eternal City.
We wandered through golden light and quiet alleys, letting Rome whisper its magic into every photo.
It wasn’t a wedding — but it felt like one.
No guests, no big plans.
Just the two of them. And still, everything was there: beauty, tenderness, emotion.

Getting married in Sicily
Sicily is a wonderful land and that is why many couples, Italian and International, choose to get married here. There is a lot of enchanting places to get married and I will tell you which are my favorites to date to get married in Sicily.
Sposarsi in Sicilia
Sicily is a land that made me fall in love, so much so that I decided to move to beautiful Palermo a few years ago. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe being so on the edge, an island in the middle of the sea, the fact that it has always been a land of union of different peoples and different cultures. Sicily is a wonderful land and that is also why many couples choose to get married here. Some choose it for family ties, others simply because they love it and because it offers unique lights and smells. Sicily is immense, from Palermo to Catania, Trapani, Agrigento, Siracusa, the list would be very long, and there is a sea of enchanting places to get married. I will tell you which are my favourite places to date, obviously leaving out the smaller islands, about which I will speak at length in another article.
Scopello
Scopello, from the Greek Scopelos, (literally 'rocks'), is a small village in the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo, which owes its name to the presence of the two beautiful 'faraglioni' (stacks) that emerge proudly close to the coast. Getting married in this small seaside village, gazing at the crystal-clear horizon and the stacks, in the company of friends and family is an easy choice to understand. Walking in the village after the ceremony breathing in the ancient charm of this land is priceless.

Baglio Strafalcello

Baglio Strafalcello was built in the late 19th century and stands at the centre of a wine-growing estate in the Trapani hills. The large terraced garden offers a breathtaking view of the hills and the sea, from Erice to Castellammare del Golfo. Close to Scopello, this baglio offers the possibility of a personalised reception in every detail, taking advantage of the large garden and internal courtyard and also of organising a beautiful outdoor ceremony.

Palermo
Getting married in the city is always a valid alternative for those who do not want to travel far and want to enjoy a bit of urban nightlife. Palermo has many churches, so for a Catholic wedding you are really spoilt for choice. Among the spaces that permit a civil ceremony, my favourites are the Ex Fonderia alla Cala and the monumental complex of the Spasimo. Both are in the centre, close to the sea and also allow for a stroll through the alleys, to Villa Garibaldi, and to the Cala to greet the sea.

Cefalù is one of the seaside towns I love most. It is an enchanting, seemingly designed place, a village overlooking the sea protected by its fortress. At 70 km from Palermo, it is a popular tourist destination. The city's cathedral, included in the regional site Palermo arabo-normanna and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale in 2015, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a religious ceremony, I definitely recommend the cathedral and then a walk through the alleys of the village to the pier for some unforgettable couple photos. For a civil ceremony and reception, however, I recommend Le Calette. Besides being a beautiful hotel with a swimming pool, it is a well-equipped location for events and weddings.

Family Reportage Photography
Why hire a family documentary photographer? As a family photographer I looking for beauty and magic, I look for it and find it, in the families I meet. Hiring a family documentary photographer is a choice for the present and the future. Authentic, professional and honest documentary photography of your amazing family.
Why hire a family documentary photographer?
One of the things I love most about my work is getting to know people, getting into their lives, even for a few minutes, or a few hours, talking, listening, observing, and finding beauty, always, in every person, in everything. As a family photographer I search for beauty and magic, I look for it and find it, in the families I meet. I find it in the small things, in simple gestures, in the early morning light, in sleepy glances. But also in the walks together, the games, the bike rides, or the evening bath, the fairy tales and the goodnight kisses. Hiring a family documentary photographer is a choice for the present and the future. Of course, many of us have at home at least one professional camera and a smartphone with cameras equipped with lots of megapixels. What may be missing, however, is a professional, attentive and sensitive gaze. And above all, a gaze that is external, and therefore capable of photographing the whole family.
You know those beautiful pictures where after years you ask, "And where was Dad?" And of course Dad took the photograph! The beauty of relying on a family photographer is to be able to let go, to be completely and fully yourself, to experience personal family dynamics freely, so that the attentive gaze of a professional family photographer, can capture that reality, that unique truth and imprint it in the memory and life of each family. It means being able to be completely inside the scene, inside life, knowing that an attentive eye is watching and capturing so much beauty.
Spontaneous gestures, moments of everyday life, photographed with honest and sensitive eyes. I am interested in people, simple gestures, authentic moments of everyday life. As a family photographer, my goal is to translate into images the most important moments of your life, made of small, simple and authentic daily gestures. Those moments of ordinary madness that fill your days and make your family authentic and unique. I search for you, just as you are, I recount your emotions, the real ones, that turn simple daily gestures into moments of pure magic. I try to do this on tiptoe, allowing myself to be inspired by your lives, to write new pages of your story together. A unique reminder of the beauty hidden within the most intimate and personal gestures, in the relationships and magic that every family is able to create every day, simply by being themselves.

What photography means to me
Photography is about keeping memories, telling stories and emotions, about marriage and love and beyond. It is to give value to a moment, a person, an event. It is to create unique pieces, which can live a life of their own, and can thus give a smile to those who look at them.
Photography is a trace, it is a documentation. With a photo we give value to a moment and stop it in time. To photograph for me is to keep memory alive. The term photography is derived from the conjunction of two words of Greek origin: light (φçῶς, phṑs) and graph (γραφή, graphḕ). Photography means writing with light therefore. Stories can be told through one or more photos, looking at a photograph we can feel emotions of different natures arise within us, all because images speak to us, they have their own language that speaks directly to our inner selves.
I photograph yes to tell stories and emotions, but there is also more.
I want to tell the beautiful, the good that is in this life. Photographing love is one of the ways I have found. And then I have this idea of wanting to create beautiful things, to create them just. That's why I love the negative, the darkroom and printed paper. One of my favorite hobbies is collecting old photographs, family photographs that you find in markets, small ones, maybe with a few words, a phrase or a date, handwritten on the back. The beauty of these small works for me lies in their uniqueness. Over time, these little printed pieces of paper have become unique, passing from hand to hand, have traveled, guests in different frames, or in old wallets, and who knows how many more stories they have to tell.
From this passion was also born the project Punto Indietro, in which I stitched a series of family photographs collected in the markets of Palermo, which you can see here. And above instead some photographs I took in negative black and white, printed and worked with different techniques, drilling, stitching and watercolor. Experimenting and letting myself be contaminated by different techniques and tools is my way of not getting bored, keeping my curiosity and amazement alive and continuing to fall in love with what I do every day.
The beauty of photography for me lies in its tangibility and therefore its uniqueness. A photograph is reproducible, but a print becomes unique. Therefore, photography is about keeping memories, telling stories and emotions, about marriage and love and beyond. It is to give value to a moment, a person, an event. It is to create unique pieces, which can live a life of their own, and can thus give a smile to those who look at them.
Circus Wedding
A Circus is a magical place. It is a place where our childlike souls are rekindled, where we are free to play, dance, jump, put our heads down and laugh our heads off. Getting married at the Circus is a curious and unexpected, certainly unique choice for a fun and out-of-the-box wedding. An excerpt from the wedding of Elisa and Sara, who decided to say their most important yes right at Circo Vola Voilà, in Rome.
A Circus is a magical place. It is a place where our childlike souls are rekindled, where we are free to play, dance, jump, put our heads down and laugh our heads off. It is a magical place, as magical is the love that connects two people who choose each other, and decide to do so, in front of friends and family, to say a "yes" to each other that will last a lifetime. It takes courage to love each other, just as it takes a little bit of madness to get married at the circus, and certainly Elisa and Sara, courage and madness are not lacking!

That's why, together with Sara, they decided to celebrate their wedding with friends and family right there, at Circo Vola Voilà in Rome. An unexpected, unique location that gave us all, big smiles, immense emotions and a bit of healthy madness. Food track, picnic on the grass, bare feet, lots of colors and delicacies to eat. What Mozao offers for the food is amazing!
If you have a bit of a childlike spirit and like to think outside the box, getting married at the circus could be a very curious choice to amaze friends and family and experience a unique and super fun wedding. The guys at Circus Vola Voilà will know how to accompany you in organizing your circus wedding, certainly there is no lack of imagination here!
